Walgreens Trip: 12.23.09

Wow! What a trip! I walked out of Wags today with four bags of John Frieda and Theraflu and spent under $13! I did encounter a couple of roadbumps, though, that you all should know about. ONE: If you use the $3/1 Walgreens coupon (IVC) it will not work properly on John Frieda Luxurious Volume BONUS packs. I picked up five of these (they were the shampoos with the attached mini conditioners for free) and they caused problems with the IVC because they have a different UPC number than the non-bonused products. SO, if you're going to be purchasing the JF Luxurious Volume line of products, either don't pick up the bonus packs, or be prepared to need a manager to fix your order. Both the cashier (Amanda) and the Manager (Jason) who helped me were GREAT, by the way.

Problem number TWO: For some reason the Walgreens IVC's for the John Frieda and the Theraflu are coded as Manufacturer coupons. Walgreens lets you use one WG coupon and one MF coupon per item but the computer was reading both as MF coupons so it was beeping. Amanda and I found that the solution to this was to ring in the MF coupons FIRST and THEN scan in the WG coupons. It was a little of a hassle today, but I walked out a happy camper with my super-cheap goods and such helpful, awesome attitudes from the WG staff (I have read online that not all WG's have staff that are so nice)! Ok, on to today's haul:

Photobucket

• 10 bottles John Frieda Root Awakening Shampoo/Cond/Detangler (reg. $5.99 ea)
• 10 bottles John Frieda Luxurious Volume Shampoo/Cond/Mousse (reg. $5.99 ea)

• 6 bottles Theraflu (reg. $5.49 ea on sale for 2/$10 w/$3 RR's back) - done in THREE transactions due to limits

Coupons
(1) $3/1 John Frieda Walgreens coupon (applies to each bottle so it's like having 20 coupons for $3 off)
(5) $5/2 John Frieda Root Awakening printable coupons
(10) $2.50/1 John Frieda Luxurious Volume printable coupons
(1) $2/1 Theraflu Walgreens Coupon (applies to each bottle so it's like having 6 coupons for $2 off)
(3) $2/1 Theraflu printable coupons

Price before sales/coupons = $152.74
Out of pocket price = $12.54
RR's Received = $9.00
Final Cost = $3.54

By the way, if you're ever wondering "What the heck is she going to DO with all that____________?" let me tell you! I stockpile goods for my own home first and foremost. It saves my family money and since I'm not currently working, that's really important. Second, I help out my friends and family. I give away bags of goods to my mom, sister, sister-in-law, friends--just about anyone who comes over to my house. Third, I donate my excess goods. I made a fabulous gift basket last night chock full of cheap/free goods and sent it with my mom to work to give to a co-worker who's having a hard time. I also send goods to school with my daughter to donate to the MidCoast Hunger Prevention Program, I drop bags of goods off at the Tedford Shelter in Brunswick and I sometimes send goods to the Togus VA Hospital as well. So, if you ever find yourself wondering why on Earth I would need or want to buy so much of a product, well, now you know!
